Reading of The Drill

bathroom B i like this one

The lovely folks at The New Group (big love to Ian Morgan) are hosting a reading of my newest play THE DRILL as part of their New Group/New Works series tonight at 7pm.  Stephen Bracket directs.  Join us!

THE DRILL takes place over the course of a single day in the forgotten girl’s bathroom of a public high school in a small outlet-mall-induced small town in Northern California. And the drill itself, conducted by the school and police, is a simulation of a school shooting and the emergency response. The students and teachers are, let us say, a little bit freaked out. The girls just want to discuss the prom and the poetry prize, but that boy covered in fake blood is really distracting. With real finesse and a great ear, Diana Stahl finds awkward comedy in the weird ways we respond to real – and simulated – horror.
